Philippine called the "Nation of Servant"

Mr. Chip Tsao formerly BBC reporter columnist and famous author as well.
He was the issue right now it is all about his defregatory statement on his article about "the claiming of Philippines to the Spratly Islands" that made him insult Filipino domestic workers and called our country as "nation of servants"at Hongkong magazine.

My opinion on this he doesn't have any right to say that our nation is a nation of servant.
He should not do that, he should be conscious of what may Filipino felt for what he have said.
I really hate that he step down the dignity and pride of every Filipino since he was well known for being well author, columnist and reporter he must know his limitation in writing.

He's very Hypocrite.

Ah that's true were nation of servant but not nation of discriminant like them.

Our maid there serve them very well.

They really work hard for their family here to gave their family a good life.

They treat the son/daughter of their employer as if it is their own family.

On the Spratly issue we need to fight for our claim to Spratly this island really belong to us.

He really need to apologize to everyone of Filipino for what he have said to us.

Here is his article “The War at Home” published recently on HK-Magazine.com :

The Russians sank a Hong Kong freighter last month, killing the seven Chinese seamen on board. We can live with that—Lenin and Stalin were once the ideological mentors of all Chinese people. The Japanese planted a flag on Diàoyú Island. That's no big problem—we Hong Kong Chinese love Japanese cartoons, Hello Kitty, and shopping in Shinjuku, let alone our round-the-clock obsession with karaoke.

But hold on—even the Filipinos? Manila has just claimed sovereignty over the scattered rocks in the South China Sea called the Spratly Islands, complete with a blatant threat from its congress to send gunboats to the South China Sea to defend the islands from China if necessary. This is beyond reproach. The reason: there are more than 130,000 Filipina maids working as $3,580-a-month cheap labor in Hong Kong. As a nation of servants, you don't flex your muscles at your master, from whom you earn most of your bread and butter.

As a patriotic Chinese man, the news has made my blood boil. I summoned Louisa, my domestic assistant who holds a degree in international politics from the University of Manila, hung a map on the wall, and gave her a harsh lecture. I sternly warned her that if she wants her wages increased next year, she had better tell every one of her compatrihots in Statue Square on Sunday that the entirety of the Spratly Islands belongs to Cina.

Grimly, I told her that if war breaks out between the Philippines and China, I would have to end her employment and send her straight home, because I would not risk the crime of treason for sponsoring an enemy of the state by paying her to wash my toilet and clean my windows 16 hours a day. With that money, she would pay taxes to her government, and they would fund a navy to invade our motherland and deeply hurt my feelings.

Oh yes. The government of the Philippines would certainly be wrong if they think we Chinese are prepared to swallow their insult and sit back and lose a Falkland Islands War in the Far East. They may have Barack Obama and the hawkish American military behind them, but we have a hostage in each of our homes in the Mid-Levels or higher. Some of my friends told me they have already declared a state of emergency at home. Their maids have been made to shout 'China, Madam/Sir' loudly whenever they hear the word 'Spratly.' They say the indoctrination is working as wonderfully as when we used to shout, 'Long live Chairman Mao!' at the sight of a portrait of our Great Leader during the Cultural Revolution. I'm not sure if that's going a bit too far, at least for the time being.

Earth Hour

VOTE EARTH
YOUR LIGHT SWITCH IS YOUR VOTE

This year, Earth Hour has been transformed into the world’s first global election, between Earth and global warming.

For the first time in history, people of all ages, nationalities, race and background have the opportunity to use their light switch as their vote – Switching off your lights is a vote for Earth, or leaving them on is a vote for global warming. WWF are urging the world to VOTE EARTH and reach the target of 1 billion votes, which will be presented to world leaders at the Global Climate Change Conference in Copenhagen 2009.

This meeting will determine official government policies to take action against global warming, which will replace the Kyoto Protocol. It is the chance for the people of the world to make their voice heard.

Earth Hour began in Sydney in 2007, when 2.2 million homes and businesses switched off their lights for one hour. In 2008 the message had grown into a global sustainability movement, with 50 million people switching off their lights. Global landmarks such as the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco, Rome’s Colosseum, the Sydney Opera House and the Coca Cola billboard in Times Square all stood in darkness.

In 2009, Earth Hour is being taken to the next level, with the goal of 1 billion people switching off their lights as part of a global vote. Unlike any election in history, it is not about what country you’re from, but instead, what planet you’re from. VOTE EARTH is a global call to action for every individual, every business, and every community. A call to stand up and take control over the future of our planet. Over 74 countries and territories have pledged their support to VOTE EARTH during Earth Hour 2009, and this number is growing everyday.

We all have a vote, and every single vote counts. Together we can take control of the future of our planet, for future generations.

VOTE EARTH by simply switching off your lights for one hour, and join the world for Earth Hour.

Saturday, March 28, 8:30-9:30pm.

I replied them no way
even I can't see my way
through your magical heart

If I ever lose my power to fight
then your love takes me high
I always be true to you

If you dare to believe
you will feel happiness with me
If you dare to believe
you will not cry no more
If you dare to believe
I will take care you very much
If you dare to believe
I will not leave you for sure

Happy but Sad

I'm happy cause finally I finished already my completion in Engineering Drawing also
I didn't take my exam in ANASOGE earlier because I didn't review yet.
luckily as I was reviewing for my Philosophy exam I saw a copy of exam in ANASOGE on an over head projector in room 203 after I saw that I immediately get it and ask my classmate to answer that for me.

But sadly as I was going home and reach Kaselle Villas I saw Sarah together with Franco and I felt sad right away and I almost near to cry.

BNPP

BNPP
No. 1 concern with this was the radiation that will be emitted that might cause an illness to the people especially the children that will cause them skin cancer.

I’m totally against the plan of revival of Bataan Nuclear Power Plant or also known as BNPP.

Having a concern to the environment I knew that it has a bad effect to our environment.

Although this will help us to get very enough source of energy but their are other source of energy if that was only the issue here we can get energy by creating Windmill it was affordable and it was very clean source of energy.

The government will spend Billion of peso for the rehabilitation of BNPP that will be paid by tax payer it means another responsibility for us.

It will be a little bit OK to me only if the government administration is not known for being prone in corruption.

News:

Nuclear myths used to hurry BNPP operation—Greenpeace warns

Manila, PHILIPPINES — Greenpeace today warned that Congress is off to speed up the passage of the Bataan Nuclear Plant revival bill regardless of serious social and environmental costs, and are using myths and abusing scientific data to support their bid.

In a press conference in Quezon City, Greenpeace Southeast Asia Executive Director Von Hernandez and geologist Dr. Kelvin Rodolfo, Professor Emeritus at the University of Illinois at Chicago and Adjunct Professor at the University of the Philippines’ National Institute for Geological Sciences disproved claims by Congressmen Mark Cojuangco and Mikee Arroyo that the mothballed 30 year old Bataan Nuclear Power Plant will yield, clean, safe and inexpensive energy.

Cong. Mark Cojuangco, whose family’s business interests include energy, is the author of a House Bill filed July last year seeking to revive the BNPP. House Bill 4631 has already hurdled the House Committee on Energy headed by Cong. Mikee Arroyo, and is currently in the Committee on Appropriations, whose report, according to Arroyo, is expected by mid-February.

“Nuclear energy is not clean, not safe and not cheap. In fact, it is probably the most dangerous and expensive power source there is. To say otherwise is to endorse patent falsehoods for the benefit of the nuclear industry. Greenpeace finds the intent of the bill, as well as the seeming haste with which it is being pushed in Congress highly questionable,” said Hernandez.

“The one billion USD [1] eyed to fund this project which will come from the pockets of ordinary Filipinos will be better spent on safe and cheap renewable energy. And if there must be haste, it should be for the finalization of the Implementing Rules and Regulations of the Renewable Energy Act, the real solution to energy security and climate change, which in contrast, sat in the Congress for more than a decade before it was passed,” he added.

Greenpeace asserts that nuclear plants are grotesquely capital intensive and expensive at almost all stages of its development. Historically, nuclear construction projects consistently run over budget, so even the 1 Billion USD projected cost for BNPP’s rehabilitation can be exceeded. The plant will also make the country dependent on imported uranium, a resource found only in a few countries. There are further costs for spent fuel storage and security, and should an accident occur, massive costs for evacuation, relocation of communities, health costs, aside from the repair of the plant and the rehabilitation of surroundings. From previous experience of nuclear disasters, these costs amount to hundreds of billions of dollars for a period of decades.

Dr. Kelvin Rodolfo whose study on fault lines and volcanic activity in the area was cited by Cojuangco in the Bill also refuted claims by the congressman that the location of the BNPP is safe. According to Rodolfo, the BNPP is situated on Mt. Natib, a dormant volcano which constitutes the entire northern half of the Bataan peninsula.

“People who are eager to reactivate the BNPP are dangerously misrepresenting scientific data. Given the burden the revival of the BNPP poses to all Filipinos, the government owes it to its citizens to vigorously, openly, and thoroughly explore all the ramifications of such a risky energy source,” said Dr. Rodolfo.

Around 800 volunteers from Greenpeace and the Network Opposed to BNPP (Bataan Nuclear Power Plant) form a giant ‘human banner’ spelling “No to BNPP” in a campus in Quezon City, as a message of solidarity opposing a House bill to revive the mothballed nuclear plant. Greenpeace is calling on Congress representatives not to support the proposal and to withdraw their signatures from the bill which would effectively lock Filipinos into dependence on the world’s most unsafe and most expensive source of electricity.

About BNPP- Courtesy of :www.wikipedia.com

Bataan Nuclear Power Plant is a nuclear power plant, completed but never fueled, on Bataan Peninsula, 100 kilometers (60 miles) west of Manila in the Philippines. It is located on a 3.57 square kilometer government reservation at Napot Point in Morong, Bataan. It was the Philippines' only attempt at building a nuclear power plant.

History

The Philippine nuclear program started in 1958 with the creation of the Philippine Atomic Energy Commission (PAEC) under Republic Act 2067.

Under a regime of martial law, Philippine President Ferdinand Marcos in July 1973 announced the decision to build a nuclear power plant. This was in response to the 1973 oil crisis, as the Middle East oil embargo had put a heavy strain on the Philippine economy, and Marcos believed nuclear power to be the solution to meeting the country's energy demands and decreasing dependence on imported oil.

Construction on the Bataan Nuclear Power Plant began in 1976 and was completed in 1984 at a cost of $2.3 billion. A Westinghouse light water reactor, it was designed to produce 621 megawatts of electricity.

Following the 1979 Three Mile Island accident in the United States, construction on the BNPP was stopped, and a subsequent safety inquiry into the plant revealed over 4,000 defects.[1] It was built near major earthquake fault lines and close to the then dormant Pinatubo volcano.[2]

Marcos was overthrown by the People Power Revolution in 1986. Days after the April 1986 Chernobyl disaster, the succeeding administration of President Corazon Aquino decided not to operate the plant.Among other considerations taken were the strong opposition from Bataan residents and Philippine citizens.

The government sued Westinghouse for overpricing and bribery but was ultimately rejected by a United States court.

Debt repayment on the plant became the country's biggest single obligation, and while successive governments have looked at several proposals to convert the plant into an oil, coal, or gas-fired power station, but all have been deemed less economically attractive in the long term than the construction of new power stations.

Despite never having been commissioned, the plant has remained intact, including the nuclear reactor, and has continued to be maintained. The Philippine government completed paying off its obligations on the plant in April 2007, more than 30 years after construction began.[2]

On January 29, 2008, Energy Secretary Angelo Reyes announced that International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) 8-man team led by Akira Omoto inspected the mothballed Bataan Nuclear power station on rehabilitation prospects. In preparing their report, the IAEA made two primary recommendations. First, the power plant's status must be thoroughly evaluated by technical inspections and economic evaluations conducted by a committed group of nuclear power experts with experience in preservation management. Second, the IAEA mission advised the Philippines Government on the general requirements for starting its nuclear power programme, stressing that the proper infrastructure, safety standards, and knowledge be implemented. The IAEA's role did not extend to assessing whether the power plant is usable or not, or how much the plant may cost to rehabilitate.

Super Late(Cha-CHa Essay)!

I created this last Dec. 13 08 actually this was serve as my Prefinal Exam but due to lot of things to do and I always forgot to finished this I only published it last night 3-19-09.

The Essay:
Based on my opinion, we really need to change our constitution but not in times of Pres. Gloria Macapagal Arroyo.

We need Charter Change to ratify our laws because some of our law benefits only in higher position and has no clear definition or benefits to the people.
Charter Change will reduce officials in our government in that way if not stop the corruption might be reduced but we need to make sure our parliament leader will be credible and truly care for us.
Charter Change will bring/open our country for more investor because they will pass a law that the foreigner can now own large property and use our natural resources as well. In return our country will attain progress.

Based on the opinion of the people that was their in the rally against cha-cha cause I was there, poor people will not benefit in the said change. The government must focus on the common goods and the improvement of the life of Filipino. They also said that they don’t want Pres. Gloria Macapagal Arroyo to extend his term because now were now suffering from poverty and what if she will extend his term.
If the administration of PGMA wants a progress they should do their best to stop corruption that was the number one reason why we can’t advance.

My Favorite Local Artist(Miguel Escueta)

MCA Music continues its 2007 mission statement of infusing new blood to the local music scene by releasing I Am M.E., the debut album of Miguel Escueta. The album includes the carrier single “Falling Away”, the follow up track “Isipin” which are both enjoying heavy rotation in the country’s hottest radio stations and getting an excellent video exposure on MTV. Plus seven more original compositions.

Miguel Escueta is really no stranger in the music scene, his recording “Let It Be” for the singing tilt’s official compilation album garnered a nomination for Best New Male Recording Artist in the prestigious 2005 Awit Awards. But Miguel broke his momentum when he decided to concentrate on finishing his Business Management in Communications Technology degree at the Ateneo de Manila University.

On the way to finishing his degree, he decided to return stronger than he ever was by adapting to a full band sound. He started by hooking up with a permanent backing band composed of seasoned performers Junior Devacais on lead guitars, Jeng Tria on bass and Francis Aquino on drums. The individual members of the group have performed with artists such as Cynthia Alexander, Ogie Alcasid, Sugar Shack and Michaelangelo. Devecais himself was on the helm of production process of this album. His biggest break came when his demo earned the nod of MCA Music President Ricky Ilacad; who never hesitated on making Miguel MCA Music’s 2nd contract artist.

His album showcases easy listening pop/rock music akin to the likes of Dashboard Confessional, The Calling, James Morrison and Lifehouse, among others. But the element in his music that Miguel is proudest of is the lyrics, for he believes that lyrics are the heart of every song and everything else evolves from that. )He draws his lyrics from real-life experiences, whether it be his own or his friends.’ His motto in life is “Vivite Somnia,” which is Latin for “Live your dreams” and Miguel has no doubt, that with his blossoming recording career, he is living his.

Miguel will officially launch his album on Nov. 16, 8 pm at Eastwood Central Plaza.

My 2 Favorite song from him was:

Malnutrition

This essay is made from my ComartII Subject.

Malnutrition is one thing we need to solve so, what were the things we should do to prevent this.

The greatest problem that we are facing right now is poverty that relates to malnutrition. This issue has been always being the priority of every administration but why it is not being solved? Just simply because due to unstoppable corruption.

Malnutrition was usually felt by poor people but let us be aware that this might also be felt by ordinary people.

Malnutrition means lack of nutrition the body of a person is always be the basis for identifying malnourish people but this is not enough for referring because there are fat people but lack of nourishment due to his/her choice of food he/she will be eating.

Malnutrition is the common disease that usually encountered by the poor children, because they don’t have enough money to buy healthy and nutritious food. The characteristic of a malnourished person are the following yellowish eyes, thin body, weak and dried lips.

Being malnourished is prone to illness and the worst some of this illness might cause of their death like tuberculosis that millions of person around the world died because of this.

Malnourishment might be solved by doing immediate action to prevent this by making a program that feeds malnourished children and teach their parents how they will serve an affordable but nutritious food for their children. With this malnutrition might be resolved.

Malnutrition is the problem around the world we need to have a concerned to each of one to stop those children that suffered from malnutrition. We need to act now to stop this problem that kills many lives.

In conclusion with this malnutrition is the problem by many people that usually that comes from the poor family. To solve this we should eat affordable but nutritious food.

The Philippine Baseline Bill

The Philippine Baseline Bill and our Continental shelf: UNCLOS deadline- MAY 13, 2009

The bicameral committee of Congress finally approved the Philippine Baseline bill. There is an opinion came up to my mind that this might be setting aside our claim to Spratly and other part. This bill might cause a war if the Philippine claim Spratly as it part cause the issue of the ownership is not yet solved.

News:
Wednesday, 11 March 2009
PGMA signs baselines bill into law

MANILA (PNA) -- The controversial baselines bill is now a law after President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo signed it Tuesday ensuring international recognition of the Philippines' baselines.

Executive Secretary Eduardo Ermita said the newly-enacted law, known as Republic Act 9522 or the Philippine Archipelagic Baseline Law, affirms the country's claim of its territorial waters, extended continental shelf, economic zones, and the controversial Kalayaan Island Group (KIG) and Scarborough shoal off the waters of Palawan province.

"The Philippine government, in its claim of areas, is official as far as economic zones are concerned... We are asserting our sovereignty because that's the right thing to do,” Ermita said.

RA 9522 is necessary in meeting the deadline of the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Seas (UNCLOS) set on May 13 this year for countries and archipelagic states to submit their claims for an extended continental shelf.

Department of Foreign Affairs Executive Director Henry Bensurto said the law is a “clinical and technical adjustment” of the existing baseline law as required by UNCLOS.

"The adjustment was in purpose of making it compliant to UNCLOS. Since UNCLOS lays down all technical requirements by which the archipelago can draw baselines, it is imperative for us to adjust the technical requirements as compliance to UNCLOS,” Bensurto said.

He noted that UNCLOS did not yet exist when the old law RA 3046 on baselines was signed. UNCLOS was established in 1994.

Under the new law, the disputed KIG and Scarborough Shoal remain part of Philippine territory but under a “regime of islands,” defined by UNCLOS Article 121 as 'islands that are naturally formed areas of land, surrounded by water, which are above water at high tide.'

Aside from the Philippines, the disputed islands are also being claimed by five other countries --Taiwan, China, Vietnam, Malaysia, and Brunei.

Earlier, both China and Vietnam took offense on the final version of the baselines bill.

Ermita said since six countries, mostly Southeast Asian nations, lay claim to the islands in whole or in part, the Philippines "respects various agreements and conducts entered we entered into."

"We are mindful of the fact that we claim this. We are not an isolated country but we are part of a community. We have to take into account that community and honor various agreements we entered into," Ermita said. (PNA)
LDV/jmc

We should fight our claims to Spratly and Sabah whatever might happen cause I believed we own this.
